Because things like OIL PUMP arent covered... someone just posted this...
He did the swap, started it up... and threw a rod because of inadequate oiling!
Use your brain and read the fine print!

Alot of places don't give warrantys on performance engines. You need to research and find out all of the risks involved with buying a used engine from an importer.

That's not why the rod was thrown...if your referring to MONK BPI's H22a.
We were never able to start that motor. We were turning it over and heard a large 'pop' and suddenly it would only turn over 3 times, then stop. The broken rod poked holes in the windage tray and Oil Pan.
Steve is supposed to be taking care of the situation though. Well See...

i believe if you absolutely want no problems when you go to start you motor, the only 100% sure way you can kno it will be safe, is to rebuild it w/ all new parts...or the engine is brand new you always going to have a risk when buying something "USED"

Hey Retard... read his start up policy.. no where inside it does it say that the OIL PUMP is covered, also some internal items... it doesn't matter if they start up... plus I believe it says you must put some USDM pieces on it for it to be covered by the warranty... he supposedly will still help you out if you have a problem, but look at the damn thing... Ive been in this scene for years son, don't try and tell me otherwise.

Look if you wanna buy motors that are warranty start-up than buy from import builders. They replace all that ****, so its good as new

Re: Why not HMO??? What gives fellas? (Monk BPI)
Lol, trust me, that wasn't a flame ...but now I have another question..
HMO says you have to change some things before the "start-up" is in effect...how much do you think all these parts will run me??
spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, timing belt, water pump and tension pulley
Thanks in Advance

Re: Why not HMO??? What gives fellas? (HondaRacer2681)
u could get all that stuff for under 200 bucks but those are things u should replace anyway. thats why u have to do them to get the start up warenty. also expect to get a clutch disk presure plate and pilot bearing and some other bearing. also u need high performance oils not cheap stuff. and hmo is the safest used engin dealer u will find. i had a bad fly wheel so steve is sending me another one. 15 bucks. where can u get a flywheel for 15 bucks and it might even be lightend. use your head and buy responcably. u just have to have patience with hmo and u will get what u need. and consider they are used. i bought mine with lsd and yes i assumed it would have been run to hell and back because of this. but it runs great minor problems but u have that with any car even brand new ones. (ford explorers role because of firestone tires) and thats brand new stuff.

I have a 12,000 1 year warranty on my motor.......new from the dealer. Didn't cost as much as you'd think either.

Re: Why not HMO??? What gives fellas? (Apex i ITR)
Steve is great.
I had a great experience with him and his company.
Even when he accidentally sent me the wrong shift linkage and transmission t bracket he 2day shipped me the correct ones the same day i told him about the problem.
I would highly reccomend him over any other company out there.
he is a cool guy too, we just bullshitted for like 20 minuets when i ordered my motor

No wonder he can't answer any of the other hundred phone-calls J/K
he made me late for work that day too
i was out the door waiting for him to call me back and he called as i hit the doorway.
20 minuets later im happy about my engine being shipped (and with what engine he sold me ) and late as **** for work...
it was worth it..
