whats the cheapest way to improve 1/4 times?
I have a 92 civic with 99 gsr motor. its quick, but that fast. I have exhaust, and CAI. Im going to race this mustang soon, and I want to beat him. whats the cheapest easiest way to gain lots of HP. NOS is cheap, but gets expensive and dangerous when you always have to fill the bottle, and I know i would abouse my NOS button. Turbo is kinda expensive for me. Im looking for easy things that I can quick do to improve my times, and make a noticable increase in HP. Has anyone ever tried to forse air into the intake with small 12v fan or soemthing like that? Don't mock me, but I have seen those tornado filters for too much $$, and you could go to radio shack and get a 12v fan or a 12v leaf blower and use that instead. could I run 110 octane, would that do anything? Give me some advice please. thanx.

yeah, i say those electric turbo things, adds like 10 hp. its a huge fan on your intake. I heard some good and bad things. i don't know, 10 hp for about $200 is kinda a waste. weight reduction huh?? I still have a/c on my car, but when its hot, its nice to have. and I have a VX, its like the lightest hatch already. (same as DX if i remember) but i think im going to look into a greddy turbo. maybe.

wieght reduction and drag radials or slicks will the the cheapest way to get lower times, aside from n2o.

Cheapest way? No parts? SEAT TIME!!!
Learn how to launch your car. Get the feel for the clutch. Get a feel for the engine. SEAT TIME is the best way to improve your times. Every car is different, so launching techniques are different.
I've swapped many 1st gen B16s into CRX's. Most of them stock everything including internals, etc. I've run consistent low 14's to mid 14's with just Cold Air Intake.
The current B16 rex Im driving now pulled a consistent 13.5 with a 55 shot of ZEX.
For the 1/4 mile, I would say,in terms of "parts", Nitrous Oxide gives you the most bang for the buck.

I broke my leg last summer and couldn't work for awhile. A nice mixture or boredom and vicitin had me building a electric forced induction for my 00 Isuzu Hombre w/ 2.2L 4 banger. I used some 3" PVC, 2 3" 90 degree rubber angles, 2 3" to 4" rubber converters w/ a 4" electric computer fan from radio shack(10-15 bux). My idea was not really force feed the air, but attempt to get the air swirling so the engine would "naturally" breath more air. The fan flowed only like 100-125 cfm. It actually did make a difference but after doing that(along w/K&N and Flowmaster) my buddy could still spank my *** in his stock nissan frontier. At that point I decided making my Isuzu fast was hopeless and returned it to stock form.

koni yellows ($500+)
H&R race ($150+)
if you want custom spring rates use ground controls($299+)
my vote is also for nitrous...

Re: whats the cheapest way to improve 1/4 times? (wuhungsixxx)
I should of made this a poll, and asked if I should go NOS or suspention. im not sure if I can install new springs and such. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg to have someone else do it for me. Im going to look for a used NOS system. thanx guys
