Default What would you do?

I have a 97 Ex coupe. A buddy of mine has a 99 SI with 77K on the motor with the basic bolt-ons. The car drives fine and he has offered to sell me his motor for $1000. I have $3500 to spend on a swap but I had planned on going GSR or Type R. Should I buy his motor and build it up or wait and get the GSR or ITR swap. I would like to stay all motor but I don't know how well I could build his motor for the remaining $2500 I would have left over. I also just thought about getting a ITR bottom end andusing that on his motor. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

dude its all a matter of how much you WANT to spend...

a full B16 for a grand is a pretty good deal

if you are looking for a GSR or ITR longblock then you are looking at 3 and 5 grand respectively, so really you cant afford either one

i would say go with the b16 and use the 2500 to mod the hell out of it...if you go with the b18 you wont have any money to mod it and you will be stuck with a stock motor...

but as always, in the end...its your choice

Dude, thats a smokin deal, at minimum take it and turn around and sell it for 2500. That is the full swap right? If so then you have a lot of options. However, boosted b16 is a good route. Easy to get 220+ to the ground. Goodluck.

I've thought about that strongly but reliability is my #1 concern. My car is my only way of transportation and I really can't afford to have a car that breaks every so often. A boosted B16 would be awesome though!
