WHAT WOULD COMPRESSION BE IN A LS VTEC
I have been building a ls vtec. I am using b18b rods and USDM ITR pistons in a B18a block with a B16 head, and it is milled 40 thousands. My question is what would my compression end up being and will it be able to run on pump gas. If anyone has a similar setup please let me know how it runs!
i am basically running the same setup...b18a with USDM ITR pistons and a ported/polished b16a head. i run pump gas and it is fine. i dont know the exact compression but i remember a number hovering around ~11:1, maybe not quite but somewhere around there. my setup is in my 88 hatch and it breaks traction after 6grand all the way to redline.
It's going to be tough on pump gas, not to mention how bad your timng will be thrown off taking that much off the head.
I run something similar to what you're describing... LS/VTEC, pushing 11.71:1 with .010" off the head. I run it on 92 octane all the time with the timing cranked to about 26BTDC. It does just fine as long as you keep an eye on the mixtures...
