Re: (Deetz)
Wow! OG Civic still kickin! I had a 1980 Accord hatchy for a little while. It was a great car until my ex wife took off with it, it broke down, and she sold it because she couldn't find a shop to fix it.
As to the Civic, I would find an 84-87 CRX/Civic motor. It's an E-series block just like the one in your car, though I'm not sure that the mounts will be *exactly* the same, they'll be pretty close. Stay away from the E-motors in the Accord and Prelude since the big 1.8L blocks don't mount the same at all.
The old Civic motor came in 1.3L and 1.5L and most of them were carb'd. The CRX/Civic Si and maybe a model of the sedan came with mp-efi. The 1.5L blocks are all the same, so you can pick up a cheapy DX/LX motor and swap on the Si head for some decent power gains. Even use efi if you want to really make a smooth runner.
FWIW, the DX block, Si head, and a set of sidedraft webers with no other mods (assuming the the motor is healthy of course) has been proven to bolt out about 120-130hp at the crank. Check out http://www.redpepperracing.com too. They work alot with the EW motors and might know how tough it would be to swap in.
Good luck
