Default what radiator are you running with your H22 EG?

ive got an h22 in my eg hatch, and i am running the stock cx radiator. im having overheating problems and im trying to determine whether it is the thermostat or the radiator either being clogged and shitty, or if its just too small.

what radiator are you running? anyone have any idea what other h22 hatches are using, such as poison, newman, etc

I had an overheating problem when i put the H22 in my eg and it never was a problem with the single slam motor.

This is what I did and it solved the problem:

-OEM stock radiator
-OEM honda Radiator hoses (del sol lower hose and 90-93 integ upper hose)
-Mugen Thermostat (or Spoon or oem Honda...DO NOT USE cheap one!)
-Flush the coolant and refill and make sure you let all the bubbles out
-FAL Slim fan or any other type of slim fan

I wired the fan to a switch inside the car so I can turn it on at anytime. Also turns on when the coolant temp reach's its point

Hope this helps!

Im using the d16z6 del sol radiator with a 120?cfm FAL slimline fan with prelude radiator hoses. My setup stays 1 bar cooler than stock.

here is how to figure out. first off make sure you have a ride then take out your thermostat and put it in boiling water it sould open around 160-180 degrees depending on brand blah blah. then inspect your radiator for calcium build-up if the thermostat was good and your radiator looks kinda mucky send it to a radiator shop. there should be a local place and they will boil it too see if it has any blockage in it they will either clean it or you can buy a new one. btw cleaning the radiator should be around 80-100

i bought a civic d16z6 radiator for $105 and put that in with a hayden slim fan that cost me 55 or so, works great and stays right around 185 degrees all day unless im in bumper to bumper traffic then it hits 195.

I've got a Fluidyne with a "Viren" fan.

I haven't driven the car much, but it takes forever to even get up to operating temps.

On my old EG hatchback, I ran a Civic duel core radiator (one from an auto car... samething, just cheaper and with the tranny cooling part that I just cut off). Never had any overheating problems. Same setup in the EK hatchback w/H22A and no problems. Now in our current EG hatchback, we have an ITR radiator in there (goes all the way across the front) but that's because I had it laying around so we fabbed up some tabs to make it fit. Also no cooling problems.

Like I've always said, everyone's car is different. Some people can run with the single core radiator all day long on their H22 and they don't overheat. I don't recommend it, but if they want to save a few bucks and can get away with it, then they do. Start off with something feasible and pickup a dual core radiator and go from there. Jumping right into a $400 Fluidyne or Kyoto radiator is nice, but not worth it IMO.

alright, well i changed radiators with my friend's radiator, which is the exact same size, and used the slim fan i already had, and i changed out the thermostat, and it runs perfect. will not go over 3/8 of the temp gauge.

turned out the thermostat i had in there (from good old o'reilly's) was halfway seized, and my radiator was just in shitty condition

By the way, he's not even using coolant. Pure H2O.

I'm running my stock ex radiator w/ a slim fan. I'm pretty sure it's a single core too. I've never overheated.

im rollin in an EK, but same thing though...

i rock the dual core del sol radiator from import auto salvage. i like how it fits and its good enough for moderately boosted h22s too so its not like its too small for the engine.
