Default What kind of valve cover / oil pan gaskets for my B18 ?

Hey:

Is it worth the extra ARF (A$$ Rape Factor) to get these from the Honda dealer, or can I just go down to Autozone and pick them up?

Both are leaking, I figured I would change them while the motor is out of the car. Anything else I should check out?

Thanks

Steve

Part numbers are as follows:

Oil Pan: 11251 - P30 - 004
Valve Cover: 12341 - PR4 - A00

Both are cheap. Good idea to swap them out.

If you're closer to Honda, then they have them too.

Oil pan gasket if for 1999-2000 Civic Si and the Valvecover Gasket fits the 1992-1996 Prelude Si models with the H23 DOHC non-VTEC in them.

Thanks!

I just called my local Honda dealer and they had them in stock. None of the parts stores near me can get Honda gaskets apparently. We don't even have an Acura dealer in this town.

I figured that you'd need to know about the parts also being at Honda because Acura dealers aren't NEARLY as widespread as Honda dealers across the country here.

You's be surprised, but there are some Honda parts that are cheaper from the dealer than from parts stores. I got raped by Pep Boys for some spark plug seals, only to find out later that I could have gotten the Honda ones for half the price.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same way with the valve cover gasket.

Last time I saw a Spoon valve cover was oin thepartstrader.com. The guy wanted 600 bucks for his. Go out a get your VTEC valve cover powdercoated. Its not worth it.. If you must have one go to the spoon website, and drop them an e-mail.
