Default Welded diff. questions

Ok I have seen it on homemadeturbo.com and on here someone replying to a question about someone with $600 to spend. They say a welded differential instead of my stock open. Now would this be better than a limited slip? And would I be able to drive around daily with it or no way is it for track use only? Please respond as to what it will do for me and if it is a very wise choice to do.....

Default Re: Welded diff. questions (cheyennerex)

getting your diff is way cheaper than 600 bux(supposing you can drop your own tranny and pull the diff out). as far as it working, yes it does, however its no good for daily driving, turning is very difficult. dont plan on attempting any u-turns. my friend with an h22 crx did this, and his axle broke after a week just from the stress. anytime you turn the locked diff turns both wheels exactly the same amount, but if u think about it, if u turn right, the right tire doesnt have to spin nearly as much as a left because it doesnt have to go as far. that puts a lot of stress on axles being forced like that..i hope that made sense and you understood it.
