weird, starts then shuts off
i had some crazy ideling problems. i followed the thread below and it was my FITV it was lose so i thighten it and my problem is fixed, car is idling perfect.

my new problem now is when i start the car when its cold, it starts and it jumps to 1000rpm and it shuts down. its like no air is going in. i tried cleaning my IAC and samething.
the only way to keep running is when i start it , i have to rev it to 2000 rpm for like 10 seconds, then if i take my foot off the gas it drops to 1000rpm and it sits there to warmup.
if at anytime i try to start it after it will start and jump to 1000rpm, it seems that it only does that when it sits for a period of time 6 to 8 hours.
can anyone tell me what i can be. is it the IAC?

well...hmm im having kind of the same problem although at cold start...car wont shut off...my problem is when the car is REALLY HOT *LEFT UNDER THE SUN* it does that sometimes...check ur fuel pump (turn key over till you hear the click of the fuel pump feeding fuel to the lines) or just take it out and check on it...also check the relay...other then that...check for TPS being properly connected....hope that helps....*my problem is fuel pump* ...nuff said

yep cold start valve
usually if your car is idling up and down its your cold valve start or idle air control valve

my car did that , then i fixed the probelm by tightening the valve. idle is perfect.
just at cold starts it will start, sit at 1000rpm for like a second then die, feels like no air coming in. but if i start it and rev it to 2000rpm for 5 seconds, then remove from the pedal it will go down to 1100rpm and sit there to warm up.
just starting is the issue.
