warped crankshaft?
i just completed a swap into my car- 1995 gsr into my 1994 si hb. the motor i purchased from a salvage yard came out of a 95 gsr that had front end damage. i guess what happened was the guy went flying into a pole and ripped through the front end and nailed the trans dead on. the mounts were ripped all were fucked except for the rear mount and driver side top mount. the trans casing was cracked pretty big hole maybe almost 6 inches across and 4 inches high. anyways a friend of mine was kind of imprinting on me that maybe my crank shaft could have been warped or bent from the hit on the trans. is this true? i mean the casing was the only part fucked the trans bolts werent bent it just looked like the right side of the trans took cracks. another thing that contributes to my paranoia of a warped crankshaft is the fact that under stress like up hill climbs and ful throttle-while driving i can feel the pedals shaking. hmm i guess it shakes pretty bad my hole leg shakes when im gasing it. could that be a symptom of a warped crankshaft or am i just trippin. i know there is a way to find out-crack open the motor and measure the crankshaft to see it in its specs and all but that is kind of crazy and i cant do that myself. btw i found a gsr trans and am using that now in replacement of the broken one-could it possibly be my trans instead? the idle on the motor is fine xcept the iac valve is giving problems on cold starts kind of iradict sometimes but other than that the idle is fine. i dunno let me know what you think.

the only way to know is to put the crank on vblocks and do a runout check on the journals and the flywheel flange.
i would say no, it would have bent the input shaft on the transmission before even damaging the crank.
but why did you buy this motor if it was damaged so much?

Re: warped crankshaft? (Kamin)
i bought the motor from a salvage yard for like dirt cheap it was still running since the damage proved that the car was in motion when it got fucked. i know i took a big chance on the motor being in good condition but i got it for like 800 bucks for everything including the car. interior parts were stripped from the auction thieves but the motor was still in tact. the only thing that needed to be replaced was the trans and some mounts. i thought the chance was worth it like 800 bucks for a GSR i know it could end up costing more to fix the damages but it was well within my budget. i dunno im kind of paranoid about everything but the gas pedal shakes prettybad when im flooring it up a hill and inducing stress on the motor. the input shaft on my new trans on the motor mounted perfectly so im assuming the crankshaft should be ok. i hope would like to hear more opinions to calm my paranioa haha thanx for your input.
