Default vtec working properly?

I have a 1st gen b16a in a 91 crx si. The car runs good and strong. But I don't hear vtec working at all. I also have a b16a2 in a 95 si and when vtec kicks in it's very loud. In the crx, nothing. It's not the intake, because I've put an aem short ram on it and still no change. I have no codes, all the oil pressure is there when it's suppose to be, all the electricals have been checked several times. Is there a way to know for sure, that your vtec is in fact working?

I know you can apply power directly to the solenoid and see if its working. Why not swap V-tec solenoids off each car to see if you can get it that way?

Just a thought,

I've already done that, the solenoid is fine.

For a dual cam vtec motor, doesn't matter if you can hear it, you should feel it definitely, as well as it IS very loud.

If your VTEC is not turning on, you would throw a code.

You should feel the tug at 5200 RPM's, however.

Since you changed solenoids from one car to the next, then this doest work.

Some people have mentioned something being wrong with rockers or something??

The filter is fine. I changed the solenoids anyway so that wouldn't matter. The rockers seem fine, when I took off the valve cover and put air pressure to the port by the vtec solenoid, the third rocker locked in place, and I get about 75 psi oil pressure on the same port once I'm over about 5000 rpm. So like I said everything seems 100% but I can't hear or feel it. If it wasn't working would the car be pretty slow? Right now it seems quick but I expected more.

i think its probably just fine..it just not as apparant on the older B16's, the newer ones are a little louder because of the cam change

couldnt agree more

Get a friend with another vtec car and have them take it for a drive and see if they notice it.
