Vtec Kicking in ?
I just put a GSR swap into my EG hatch. I only have one CEL and that is for the Knock sensor. I can't hear a change in the tone of the intake at 4400 rpm when teh VTEC is supose to engage. Maybe because of the dual runner IM it can't be heard that much ? I was wondering if the VTEC wasn't kicking in or if ther was something preventing it from kicking would it throw a CEL ?

that could be as easy as your knock sensor, vtec will NOT engage if that sensor is malfuntioning. Did you run the wires from your knock sensor to the ecu.if so, is it in the proper pin location? or is the knock sensor just bad?.. you'll here vtec even with that intake manifold.

I also have the b18c1 swap in a hatch, and you can definitely hear the changeover and all I have is a shortram intake and the stock cx exhaust. But if I'm not mistaken doesn't it changeover at 5500 (if your running stock ecu that is)?

It should hit around 4400 to 4500. One way to check VTEC is to use a cheesy volt tester( (light bulb probe). This is the GHETTO VTEC TESTING METHOD
1.Connect the clip to the negative terminal battery or (any ground)
2. Get the other end of the probe and stick it into the VTEC pin location on the ECU
3. Drive your car until you hit the VTEC point
4.If Vtec works, bulb should light up at 4400 or 4500
Ask a buddy to hold the probe in place while your driving.
I had to do this to VISUALLY prove the VTEC was working in a buddies car.
