Default vtec = no power

long story short vtec engages but there is no power gain i have swapped out speed sensor, distributor, ecu, vtec solenoid, checked motor oil pressure, checked head oil pressure when vtec engages, checked timing, ran solenoid to a switch and it is all ok. when i lean into it in second you car hear a very light noise around 5000 rpm's but there is no power gain. i had an h23 vtec that blew up and that thing kicked super hard and now i put in an h22a4 block with type s pistons with the same h22a head and i got nothing. not even the slightest bit of power. vtec is working but there is just absolutely no power at all it runs like an non vtec with good compression. this thing absoultely dies at around 6800 rpm's

wait i guess it is a long story....sorry

What about timing is that all fine??? Also did you check to see if your vtec lobes are worn down for some strange reason

Put it on a dyno to confirm that you aren't making the hp you should be. Also, do a compression and leak down test.
