VSS sensor????

Default VSS sensor????

B16a1----Where can I find it on the car??...its on the transmission right? possiblity under/around the speedo cable??

Im getting a code 17...my speedometer works fine...so the problem is the sensor right? Is there any way I can by pass this sensor..untill I can afford another?

In the 88-91 B16a1, the VSS is in thw gauge cluster. Swap the cluster and see if that helps. The cable plugs into the cluster, that is the VSS. The other end of the cable plugs into the tranny, that is the pinon gear. You might want to replace that as well, just make sure the new one is the same as the old one (gear tooth count). It's just held in place with a 10mm bolt. Take the bolt off and wiggle the gear out.

Also, have you reset the ecu? It will hold a code even if it's cleared. Unplug the ecu for 15 seconds.
