Default VSS questions

I recently swapped a JDM siR gauge cluster into my 90CRX. I am using a D16 engine and tranny and have the electronic VSS from a 92 Civic to use with the cluster. (the stock setup is a mechanical VSS) Is there anyone here with the knowledge to guide me through the wiring of the electronic VSS? There are three connections to be made to the VSS (I believe 1-pos, 1-neg, 1-signal).

The middle wire on the VSS is the speed signal, run that wire up to the cluster. The black wire on the outside is ground and the other outside wire is a power source.

I only ave the sensor, no harness to go with it. which outside is ground? there is a flat side and a peaked side on the VSS. Viewed wih the flat side toward you, is the ground on the left or the right?
