Update to distributor issue with h22 hatch..
Well finally got another 92-95 distro from another prelude and like Newman said we took off the timing cover only to find that the exhaust cam jumped like one tooth in timing.. Now I know that can mean one of two things, either I got really lucky and that is the only problem, or the worst case scenario I have some nicely bent valves.. This is with lining up the flywheel to TDC.. Also when we did so we also noticed that the distro was not pointing to number one like it should..
Any ideas on this.. If it wasnt raining today I would continue but it looks like I will have to try to start it again sometime this week.

Do depending on the damage I will probably be out of the running for a while. We actually got the fix the cam issue but I dont want to pull apart the head just yet just in case I got lucky and none of the valves went.
If not then I guess I will have some deciding on what exactly I want to do.. Which could put my turbo dreams closer to reality than I would have liked.. But what the hell you only live once..

Reson why your timing belt jumped a tooth is because you tensioner is fucked, so replace it with a new one. As for knowing if your valve(s) are bent, it all depends on how bad but what you can do is a compression test and also check to see if there's air coming out of the TB.

Yeah I am going to have to take this step by step to see exactly what is up. First I am just going to setup the external coil since I have it and exchange the ignitors then work from there... Also would you have an explanation for the distro rotor facing plug two with everything else TDC?? Would it just need to be turned 180' to fix that problem??

Man as soon as I can get my car back on the road I will go anywhere. Its kinda fustrating because it isnt something that I forsaw in anyway. Just came back from NC back to NY like 2 weeks ago and the car/engine did very well on the trip.. So hopefully I can get something happening soon..
I will let you know of course.

is the tensioner a good thing to replace when changing the timing belt?
Anybody know how much they go for new?

Damn this kinda scares me cuz that was the one thing i didn't replace on my motor when I swapped it in. The damn auto tensioner...
I hope everything is ok with your motor jason. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Yeah well I am still diagnosing everything. If the weather isnt bad I will pop back in the distro and try to fire it up sometime this week to see what is up. I will also have to get a compression test done and make sure everything is okay there..
Again at worst I have some bent valves that I will have to replace. A minimum car will start back up and run fine.. The only thing now is whether to go all out and get a port/polish and new head package or just to replace the valves; if that is the case..
I am so confused... hehe
