Update to distributor issue with h22 hatch.. Part II
Okay took the car apart somewhat today and here is was happened. Now as you all know I converted the new distributor for use with the external coil but when comparing the one I got and the old one I saw that the little crank sensor thingy was pointed the opposite direction. So in noticing this we lined up everything from the timing cover back to TDC and noticed that the distro was pointing to plug number 3..?? Is there a difference in distributors between the years 92-95.. Its ODB I but I wanted to know if it matters if its a vtec or not.
Firstly we looked at the timming and the exhaust cam gear was off by one tooth but no vavles were bent thank goodness.
So we hooked up the plugs just to see if the car would start and yes it did although it was running like ***. Hence we put plug number one on number 3 point on the distro and worked from there.. So now I just need your input on it all so I can know what to do from here.
We definately know that at least that something is up with the distro. And the old crank sensor thingy was broke !!

so the timing isn't right? there's really only 1 way the dizzy can go on the camshaft perfectly.
put your motor to #1 TDC with the cam gears and on the dizzy, there is a line on the rotor (that goes on the cam shaft). The line should be on the bottom and go onto the camshaft smoothyl.
and put your wires on the dizzy as follows:

12
just wanting to clarify that you have things in order bro

Re: Update to distributor issue with h22 hatch.. Part II (poison)
Okay sorry I thought I would have been a little unclear. The motor is TDC from the timing belt side and the flywheel but the distro although its on points to plug number 3... So I figure I have the wrong distro right away.. The crank angle sensor is also faced completely opposite from the one I had before..
The only thing I remember now is that its a JDM ODB I distro and I was speaking to someone that said that I can't use it for some reason.. So it looks like I will have to find a US one or change out the internals for this one in order for it to work properly..

on one of the tabs where the bolts attach the distr to teh head should be a stamp...it should say td-60u or td-61u, if it says something else...post it, as far as i know those are the only two distributors that will work right from honda on the h22a.

Damn I could have sworn I replied to this. I guess honda tech is acting up. Anyways both distro have the same number td-60u.. The only difference was that the old one had 2506 and the replacement said 2y18 ... And the crank sensor is like 180 degress in the opposite direction..
