Default Type-R Transfer

I'm doing a B18C-R swap into my EG and I have a few questions. It's the 98+ spec with the 4.7 final drive and 4 to 1 header.

Does the radiator that use have to be based off of the motor or my car? Meaning, it's an ITR motor but does that mean it'll fit and EG?

Do I have to raise my car? I'm running 15in Rota Circuit 8 on 195/50/15 on Fuzion ZRi's, there's virtually not space between my fender and tires. Do I have to raise the car at all or will the motor be a safe distance from the ground. The body of the car sits about 4 inchs off the ground as it is.

Lastly, is the header and 4.7 final drive worth $400 extra bucks? Does it make that much of a difference?

I would've posted this in the EG forum but I figure I should ask people who own the motor.

does the motor come w/ the tranny? if it does it should already have the final drive in it......

so, no the header is not necessarily worth $400

you should be fine w/ the eg radiator......

your ground clearance should be fine w/ the jdm header..... but i would raise the car anyways.... it does not need to be slammed to handle well......

The motor comes with the Type-R tranny (hydro) but the final drive changes depending on how much money you spend on it. Regular it comes with a 4.4 final drive and for $400 more come with the 4-2-1 header and a 4.7 final drive. That's worth it right?

My man...if you are buying JDM ITR motor with a tranny that has a 4.7 FD you are not going to be getting a 4-2-1 header. You will be recieving a JDM 4-1 header. Only the 96&97 spec JDM ITR motors came with the cast 4-2-1 manifold as well as all USDM Type Rs.

Damn this is beaten information.....

So that's a go right? It's worth it.

On stock intrenals, would not go past 9K...

Stock ECU is 8400... Best bet is go Hondata S100, I have that in my tuned ITR motor..

i did a jdm itr swap in my dc2. i already had the 98 spec tranny so i just go the 96 spec motor swap because it was cheaper. i should have still payed the extra 400 because the header is worth at least 250 and then i at least would have had that. but ne wayz, are you getting the motor from hmotorsonline.com? i highly reccomend them. my swap passed tail pipe with flying colors. but remember, if you plan on doing the swap, you are going to need to run a us intake manifold, tb, evap canister, and ecu to be able to pass smog if you get sent to the ref. I didn't know that until 3 days ago. now i need to fork out like 7-800 bucks just to get my car deemed legal. good luck and enjoy. best money ever spent on my teg.

I just want an ECU that would let me rev past 9rpm, although I wouldn't take it that far.

Hondata huh? What makes them so good?

They can tune the engine and A/F curve to whatever mods you add to engine. Can also set rev limiter, but most mods do not make power past 9K. Not in a stock piston set up.

Your $$$ to power ratio would way too much to rev a ITR motor that high.. unless its for strip only...

it is a lower first gear, and final drive is shorter. Basically let you acclerate faster and stay in power zone of engine in all gears, but revs higher and a little buzzy in fifth...mine runs 3300 at 60 mph... But much better for spirited running...

Well worth $400 in all respects...
