is it true that motors are stamped one year behind?
Steve at hmo told me I'd be receiving a 90-91 ZC for my CRX and when I got it 89 was stamped on the block so I called him and asked him about it and he told me all honda blocks are stamped one year behind.. so I really got a 90 motor. I thought he was feeding me some bullshit at first but then I checked my 91 Si motor and its stamped 90.
WTF is up with this.. is everyones like this?

its just like, you know how u can buy a 2004 civic in like 2 months, even though its still 2003, they manufacture the cars early, and the date stamped on the block is date of manufacture.

The heads are usually stamped one year behind, but the longblock still shows what year/generation it is for that year car.

Re: is it true that motors are stamped one year behind? (red civic standard)
yes the heads are made and stamped 1 year before the year of the car itself.
so an 89 head/motor is from a 90 chassis.
