Default Transmission Question

i peiced together the swap that im in the middle of doing right now, and stupid me, didnt do my research before purchasing my tranny. i bought it a little under a year ago, but never wound up putting it in til just this month. anyway, most peoples trannys ive seen now that im looking, the tranny code is on a little blue plate bolted to the trans. Mine is like, just a sticker. And it says Y21. Now after doing a little research i see Y21's are cable. Mine is obviously a hydro. Is there any way i can tell what it REALLY is? Supposedly its a hydro b16 trans. Thanks....

If its a cable tranny, you will see a black lever on the front side of the tranny. Most likely from your description it is a cable tranny, but you will notice the black lever on the front side of the casing. If it is Hydro, you will notice a square like space on the front with the clutch fork coming out for the clutch slave to push on. I'll try to get you some pics

no, its definately a hydro, i knew about all that, i already have the trans in the car and the slave cylinder hooked up... so why is the trans stamped y21? Someone just tryin to scam or what? Also, is there any other way to tell what tranny it is, besides that code, which is obviously bullshit anyway?

I thought Y21's came with the 94-95 B16a Del Sols (and JDM ek's). If it is the Del sol tranny, then you're in luck...why?? Because the Y21's share the same ratio's as the CTR/US ITR except that the Y21's do NOT have lsd.

hope you find out what you have
