Tools?
Ok well heres the situation, Im planning to do my first engine swap over the winter/spring when i get my vaction time, but the thing is i have no tools.
I just sold my JDM ITR front end and made about 700 profit, so with the 700 I decided the best investment would be some tools since I plan to do all of my mods myself.
I was wondering if you could give me some insight on what I will be needing for my swap. My engine is my number one priority but im sure ill be doing many more projects down the road, Would you reccomand an air compressor + air tools?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Tools? (Black HB)
You can get a 20gallon air compressor with a 5 hp motor for around $150
Look to Spend About $75 for a good air ratchet and about $100 for a decent impact gun...be careful with air tools though. try to use them for loosening mostly and tightening engine mount bolts....very easy to snap **** off. so out of that $700 you have roughly $375 left... buy a nice craftsman tourque wrench ~$50 or on for ~$20 off http://www.harborfreight.com (very nice tools for good prices) them get a nice ratchet socket set. get 3/8" drive and a 1/2" drive set. you'll need a 32mm for axle nuts (same as 1 1/4") most engine mount bolts are 17mm and some 19mm. ball joint castle nuts are 17 mm and so are shock fork bolts.
you'll mainly need 32mm, 19mm, 17mm, 15mm (for bottem bolts on bottom front mounts) then youll have plenty of misc 14mm 12mm and the famous 10mm. the swap really is bolt in and pretty easy if you have even a little mechanical experience
sorry to drag out so long, but i was in your spot once so trying to help the best i can

Re: Tools? (Silver EG)
Well if you are doing a swap do yourself a favor and get yourself a good impact gun...you will love yourself for it!!!!...here is a list of tools that I suggest...thetoolwarehouse.net is the cheapest place I could find Ingersoll Rand air tools when I was buying my stuff...stick with IR they are the best for the money!!!...I dont think you will find a cheaper place for air tools...I have ordered from them a bunch of times and the service has been great!!...and they offer free shipping on your first order of $100 or more...after you buy the air tools get yourself a nice torque wrench...I have a Craftsman and I am real happy with it...and then use the rest of the money to get yourself the biggest ratchet set at Sears that you can afford...then you can add to that set as you need to...look for when Sears is having a big sale....alot of times you can find this stuff 20% off...good luck!
