Tech Question: Which is better (blocks)?
Ok, here's the deal. I have a B20B sitting in my garage right now. I'm concerned about the strength of the stock sleeves due to hearing about their tendency to crack under stress. I plan on making a high revving (8000rpm) vtec 2 liter engine. My question is, which setup would be better keeping longevity of the engine in mind:
*Stock B20 block and sleeves
*B20 resleeved by GE
*Vtec block bored and resleeved by GE
I would rather spend the extra money to do this right the first time and not have to tear the engine down in a year. The advantage I see of sleeving a Vtec block is that I won't have to run an external oil source to the head. If I were to use the Vtec block, which crank should I use? Thanks for any and all help.

In all honesty, if you are going to spend the money to have a block resleeved, you should sell the B20 to someone and get a B18C (Oil squirters are your friend).
Then have that block resleeved to get your....eh, let's go with 86mm's? Sound good?
When they sleeve the block, you can go much larger in the bore.
I am unsure what the B series maximum is but, the D series can go to a 79mm!! That's large for that small of a block.

GSR block sleeved and bored. The oil squirters are not necessary since you will need to run forged pistons, but every little bit helps. But you do already have the B20 in hand....

Re: Tech Question: Which is better (X2BOARD)
Thanks for the help, guys. I was kinda leaning towards getting the Vtec block resleeved for larger pistons since it would make the swap more reliable (in my opinion). Now, i'm not saying it can't be done the other way, but it just sounds like it would work better using a Vtec head and block. Besides, I don't think i'll have too much trouble selling the B20 and making my money back.
If I were to go w/ the Vtec block, any idea which crank I should run. From my understanding, the LS and B20's have the same crank w/ a longer stroke. Should I try to find an LS/B20 crank to use in the engine? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Re: Tech Question: Which is better (B96v6)
my current block is a b20 with stock sleeves 84.5 11.2 cr 100 shot
it has not cracked yet.
My next block will be a b18c with 85 ge sleeves.
here's why
stronger block
girdle
squirters
better stroke
no oil lines
and you can swap cranks, my friend Jerry has a 85 GE gsr motor making 246 on a ls crank. Imo I would use a gsr crank or some long rods and compressed ring pistons
