Default Swap or what?

Wow, I hardly ever get on this forum - and I've been on h-tech a long time!

Ok guys I need your help:

I have a '91 si hatch and my buddy has an '88 crx si. We both have over 200k miles on the cars and both recently acquired them. Well, his car is blowing all kinds of nasty smoke and it runs decently, but our goals in getting these cars were to do swaps.

We're both considering the b18c's... Although he is kind of having second thoughts because everyone keeps saying b16, blah blah blah.

I know the b18c will be more work - but they also have a lot more potential... imho.

Any other suggestions? b20 vtec? ls/ vtec? nos? turbo? sc?

These are daily drivers and our goals are to run in the 12's... Of course $ is a factor, but I'd rather spend it now and do it right than to spend more later...

Thanks!

In my opinion, the swap with the most potential is definitely the USDM B18C1. Nothing else comes close to the performance/$$$ ratio except the JDM B16A. Making a B16A run 12's is probably going to involve a lot more work than making a torquier motor power a car into the 12's... hence, I advise the B18C1 for you, and the B16A for your friend . Why? 'Cause you wanna be FASTER THAN HIM, RIGHT?? LOL....
