Default swap help

okay so i want to get a swap...

b16a or b18b for 94 dx coupe?!?... hmm im thinking b16a because im going to have to have the motor stock for about a year because im still in school and a b16 would get me better 1/4 miles times...

im not asking on which one to get because i've already read about it on here and searched... altough comments are very welcomed because i still wanna hear more about each swap

anways im just wondering how much harder would it be to swap the b16 then the b18 into my car cuz its non-vtec right now, and if i was to get a obd-2 motor, is the conversion harness the only thing i will need with the swap to make it work...

on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is each swap for someone that has not done one before... ?

thanks in advance...

the covnersion ahrness is to use an obd1 ecu in an obd2 car.....
and both swaps are a breeze if you ask me, but not having done a swap doesnt say much about how much you really actually know and how well prepared yo uare to do a swap. easy swaps can be hell if you are nto mechanically inclined....

if you get an obd2 engine its still pretty straight forward actually though you have several options as far as how it will work out though. depends on how good at wiring you are.

so it would be easier to just buy a obd-1 motor, and what extra stuff do i have to do to get that vtec in my non-vtec car?

is wiring SOHC vtec the same as DOHC vtec?

If you get an obd1 or obd2 b18b, you can make it a complete plug and play swap. No wiring changes at all.

If its an obd1 engine, use the obd1 LS engine harness. The obd1 harness plugs directly into your civics main harness. Then plug in an obd1 LS ecu.

If its obd2 engine, use an obd2 engine harness. The obd2 harness also plugs into your civics stock main harness. Then simply plug in an obd1 LS ecu.
There are other ways to do it, but these are the simplest.

Wiring vtec is simple.
Vtec solenoid- run wire from solenoid to A4 at the ecu.

Vtec oil pressure switch- run the black wire to ground and the other wire to D6 at the ecu.

Knock sensor- run wire from sensor to D3 at the ecu.

Thats it!
