Default straight B20B dyno!

well, it took a while but we finally got the B20B dynoed. as soon as I scan up the chart I'll post that up as well.

let's just say that we where impressed

93 civic DX:
97 B20B w/GSR tranny
OBD1 P75 ecu
DC 4-1 (USDM w/2" collector)
carsound 2.5" cat
custom mandrel bent 2.5" pipeing
AEM fuel pressure regulator
some cheap intake

max wheel horse power: 137.4
max wheel torque: 126.8

fuel pressure is set to 48 psi WOT

dyno was done at D.P.E....will have chart up soon.

if you calculate drivetrain loss, the B20B is making some where in the area of 160 flywheel horsepower and 150 flywheel torque

my conclusion: the B20B is deffinetly UNDERATED by honda

I agree, or the engine is really restricted in stock form.
I have a JDM B20b w/ the exact same setup as you (exept i have an SI tranny) I just installed the motor on saturday and all I can say I WOW, this **** pulls. It is no comparison to my B16.

it's best to swap the actual bracket to a 94+ integra one and use a 94+ integra timing belt mount...

Nice numbers! What intake manifold are you running with this setup? stock LS?

T.O.Tegs:

did you touch the bottom end?

rod bolts/head studs? girdle?

what is the idle like? any fueling problems? how/why did you set FP @ 48psi?

is it a stock P75 ecu?

thanks! i love those numbers... i can imagine hte broad area under the torque curve

t..

PS i notice the oil cooler install - no problems???

the picture above is my cr/vtec, not the B20B that was dynoed....both have same mounts though.

other then the mods listed above the engine is bone stock.

we actually gained a lot of power by upping the fuel pressure. we had it set on 42psi WOT when we got there and it seemed that the more we put it up, the more we gained through out the power band....until we hit 48psi WOT though.

the car is a beast and the power#s back up the 14.4 @96mph 1/4 mile run...during that run the car had a 2.4s 60ft.

graph should be up by tomorrow

Nicey nice. I'd like to see how much more you can squeeze out of it with a Skunk2 IM and JDM-spec header with 2.5" collector and test pipe. That'd be yummy.

if I only ran a 14.4 with a fully built cr/vtec I would kick my self

14.4 was with the straight B20B that was just dynoed

On 92-95 Civics you can swap the driver side mount with the two studs pointing upwards to a 99 SI one and you will be able to use your original civic mount that mounts onto the car...$75 for that mount from the dealer.

Nice I didn't think the B20B would put down those numbers, thats what I've seen B20Z's do with the same setup.

funny, since they are the same engine +/- 0.8 compression points...

the difference between the B20B and B20Z is the intake manifold

the big assed one sucks the power figure right down, once the IM is removed from the equation it's anyones game...

ps did you know the 96 JDM B20B has a 58mm throttle body?

i believe Honda severely restricted the output of the CRV from factory, proably in serach of more drivability...

i am sooo looking forward to the increase from 1.6 to 2.0...

t..

cams are mildly different too, but ya I know its 0.8 comp diff, but the price is almost the same for the B and the Z. B20Z also has a knock sensor

yeah, so why do people expect that a B20B will be much less potent than a B20Z

the performance difference should be minimal if noticable at all, once the same IM is used.

i actually didnt know hte cams were different?

doesnt matter - i will be using VTEC cams

heres a good example for comparison (which also supports what you say), the #'s are really close to the above B20B but this is a B20Z, DC header, CRV TB: 139 whp / 129 ft-lbs:

I know the B20B/Z is great since its got tons of torque. But what about freeway driving? I know the engine pulls from 4200k-6500k I think. But can this keep up with a B16A? I'd like to stay all motor w/o going crvtec. I always distinguish the B20B/Z as a street car since it can pull hard and 1/4 mile times are wonderful. The B16A though slow on street is quick on the freeway. Can the B20 also dominate on the freeway w/o going vtech?
