Default stock ls headgasket for ls/vtec?????

ive always used factory LS headgaskets for lsvtec motors. but for some reason my brand new one is leaking from the back of the block. some one has told me that u need to remove the rivots on the intake side of the headgasket or else 'sometimes' the oil passage back there wont seal. is this true? i just got my head back from the machine shop and it was freshly resurfaced so that rules out the head being warped. also i didnt check the 1/8npt plug on the bottom of the block to see if they messed with it when they resurfaced it or possible even took it out....i dont know if that could be it anyway. anyone know what happens ith that plug doesnt seal? thanks in advance

check the torque on the bolts, make sure they are torqued to the right specs and in the right order. I think its 24-26flt/lbs (first pass) 61ft/lbs (2nd pass). I wouldn't recommend taking out the rivots

Dave,
This is KJ from ZMR. Who di the machine work, Eisle's? They did the same thing to that red hatch that I was working on. Ended up using JB Weld on the threads.

I dont trust machine shops with things like that....

Whenever you get your head drilled to accept the dowl pins, always double check how deep they went.

Also remove the plug, reseal it yourself and then u know its right
