the y8 will bolt right in - since the 4g std is dpfi, it will need rewired for mpfi and for v-tech - std came with 4 spd tranny - is he keeping it?

There is no need for him to get the tranny unless he plans on doing a cable to hydro clutch conversion.

I hope his swap goes well, and good luck on the MPFI wiring junk.

The MPFI wiring is the easy part I would rather wish him luck on the hydro tranny install

I would suggest getting an 88-91 Civic/CRX Si Cable tranny or at the very least a DX. The 4 spd. will suck horribly with that motor setup. He'll also need the knuckles and hubs from a DX or Si because the 4 spd has different axel splines.
