Default Starter question

I have been told that the starters are different between the cable and hydraulic trannys is this true??

The outhousing looks a little different between a few of them and different years, but they will work with one another. SOHC and DOHC are different, but say if you take a B Series off a hyrdo, you can use it on your cable trans, or the other way around.
