Last minute H22A swap crisis!
Ok, I have everything I need to begin the completion of my JDM H22A swap into my del Sol, but I think I might be missing some things. I still have the O2 sensor from the D16Z6. Should I pick up a Prelude O2 sensor? If so, should I get a universal connector? Also, I don't have a resistor box for the injectors. Where the hell would I get one of those?
One more thing... those of you who have JDM H22A swaps in your EG/EKs, do any of you have the EGR installed? If not, are you throwing any codes? I've been told that I will, even with a JDM P13 ecu. Does anyone have feedback on any of this?

the egr depends on your ecu, resistor box can be got at a junkyard or at a honda dealer, O2 sensor can be wired without a connector, or with some blade connectors(id assume) and I dont know if you can use your old one.....

the o2 sensor doesnt make a diff, if you use the del sol harness and mod it to fit jsut keep using hte del sol o2 sensor since it will fit the plug on teh harness already.
ALL p13's look for an egr system. if it is not there then code 12 will show all teh time.

Re: (v4lu3s)
It doesn't throw the code all the time, only at certain rpm/speed combo will it show and it doesn't affect anything. You won't show the CEL after you've stopped and started the car again.
A substitue ECU will get rid of this for you but it's just esthetics.

Pulling the bulb I wouldn't recommend. It's just a ghost code man, no effect on the car at all.
I don't see how getting Hondata would get rid of it, as stated, I guess your left with living with it or getting another ECU.

Re: (520Motorsports)
I still have my (chipped) P28, my only concern is the air/fuel mixture. Will I run too lean? If I go with the P28, should I use my D16Z6 O2 sensor or the one for the H22A (I have both)?
Also, I have a Field VTEC controller and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. If I was to go with the P28, will I be able to override the settings on my piggyback ECU with the VTEC controller? What should I set my PSI at (for fuel pressure)? Does anyone recommend using the VTEC controller with the P28 since I already have it?
This is a great thread so far! I greatly appreciate these responses. And if any of you live in CT, drinks are on me next weekend

is the p28 chipped for an h22 ?
as far as o2 sensor you use the one that fits your harness, they are all teh same except for the male or female plugs.
and i would leave the fuel pressure stock to start with.

The P28 is chipped for a D16. I got one of those "programmed" piggy back ECUs on eBay a couple years back. I can adjust my fuel mixture with the Field controller, so my primary concern is whether or not the P28 will make me run too lean, and if so, how much richer should I make my mixture. I can go up to +/- 30% either way (richer or leaner) for every 1000 RPM. I'll probably set the VTEC to kick in at 5000 RPM. Another concern is that my rev limit right now is 7100 RPM. I cannot adjust my rev limit with this controller, that's the one thing I hate about this thing.

its impossible to say how it will make your run, if it was me i would not run it on that chip until i have on that is desgined for an h22. and as far as adjusting fuel you really wont know where to adjsut til you get on a dyno.

Re: (n2o_sol_h22)
if the egr is plugged in it will not throw a code. SO I would say just block off the egr by putting a piece of sheet metal between the egr and manifold.
I would not run the p28 with the d16 chip. I would get a chip with an h22 map on it.
The fields isn't the best controller for fuel. But I still would not run the p28 with the D16 chip. even if you were using the fields. also are you dyno/street tuning?
also like you said your p28 chip now revs to 7100 and you need 7500/8000.
so three option 1. run the p13 with the egr blocked off. 2. run the p13 with the egr working. 3. run the p28 with an h22 mapped chip.
I would run the p13 with the egr working. because you will not gain any power and will loose gas mileage if you remove the egr and don't retune

Re: (kulrevon)
my whole problem is that i don't have the egr system. so i would have to go out and buy it all, which doesnt make much sense to me. but oh well, now i have even bigger problems. the so-called "h22 swap mounts" i bought on ebay aren't even close. now i have to get different ones, which means that the axles i had custom made from gator may not even fit now

Re: (kulrevon)
i have the egr valve on the manifold, can i just put some vaccum caps over it? is there some way to rout the vaccum lines so it will actually be functional?

If you are running the p28 you do not need the egr at all. Just get a pop can and some gasket maker put the egr over that and call it a day or get an egr block off plate. Yeah the swap I got came with the ebay mounts...they are a piece of ****...i am waiting on the hcp's to come in and be done.

Re: (vtecspeed1320)
i'm going with the hasport mounts. sure, they're $600, but i have every intention on keeping my power steering. i haven't cut a single corner yet (except with those mounts), i might as well do this right...
