Does anyone know how to swap a sr20det into a 95 Civic EX coupe? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I need a parts list if possible and any install advice.

I know that it is a Nissan motor. I have heard that it has been done, obviously you guys haven't seen it or don't know how to do it. Somebody might though. sr20de's can handle a lot more power than all of the honda b16s or b18s and they are cheaper than the honda engines.

I have found the swaps for $1800. I have heard of them for less also.

ohhhhhhh hell. yes it's possible.....wtf u gonna do tho, throw an I6 motor into the civic (which i might add that civic is FWD if ya didn't know, and SR20 is mainly for RWD)....wtf u gonna do, modify the WHOLE body and move the gas tank and modify the trunk to put a differential in there? u'd have to restrcture the entire frame because with that torque (plus how the hell is the motor going to mount), you would have problems.

so converting your 95 civic into an RWD with SR20....that would be a ******* NICE car....but alot of people would throw at u for doin that kind of a hybrid with nissan into honda....but....u tell me, is it worth spending your "$1800" SR20 swap into a $5500 civic.....which requires ALOT of fabrication for just MOUNTING the MOTOR, u'd have to modify the cab and firewall to get the tranny in and make it shift properly, and....u'd have to mainly use the exhaust area to put in the driveshaft and then modify the trunk to put a RWD differential there......tell me u like the civic THAT much to do....why don't u modify the fenders and throw some huge 40's slicks on there too.....

u probably are just gettin into cars, and thought that sr20 is the best motor for a civic, WRONG....it just isn't worth it at all. now a more REASONABLE although crazy question (less crazy than sr20 into a civic) would be asking how to put an ACCORD V6 into a civic....but who knows, hopefully u'll learn, or go buy a 240SX or maybe even bring a skyline in to the US.

WTF????? when i first read the post i thought it was a joke.. but i guess i was wrong, and why would you want an SR20det motor in a civic?I know the SR20det came in FWD and RWD, but if you want an SR20det go buy a 240sx,200sx or a sentra.. not a civic. you might be thinking "i want to be different than the other civics around here" if so build a B20/vtec turbo and im sure by the question you asked you hang around people with the LED windshield wiper squirters. just my $.02...

seen b16 go for 1500 (cable tranny )
if you plan to do a swap on a civic
then here are your options and fast and the furious dont count as a tech learning experience!
b16 1.6
b18b,b18c1,b18c5 or j spec motors like b18c
h22a and b20
that will give you plenty of options !

Ok how do you put an ACCORD V6 into a civic if you know so much?
it's possible, not likely, although can be done, takes alot of $$$$ though. do research if ur interested, but it sure is a HELL OF A LOT LESS work than an sr20 into a FWD honda.

ahh u deleted it? hmmmm

ur a quick learner...just got a wrong turn, if u like meaty engines, get an H series motor or go b20/vtec, but ur headed in the right direction.

I don't want to spend more than 2500 to 3000 to start off with and I want it to remain a daily driver I have heard the H22 swap can't have power steering or AC.
And I also heard there is only 3 inch clearance between oil pan and the ground. The potholes here in Spokane would kill the car.

go with a B16...you can find them relatively cheap and when you're ready, you can build the engine for turbo and make some serious power.
-by the way, glad you learned quickly about the SR20DET in a civic...not worth it

Finally came to his senses. A cheap inexpensive $2000-$3000 swap compared to a who-the-****-knows (certainly more than the price of a civic or 240sx alone) custom sr20det damn near impossible swap. Although they do make fwd sr20det's but there not very popular, and DAMN sure not worth the cost or time to put into a civic. Back to reality.

What does it come with? I need the complete swap including axles and ECU etc. $3500 sounds kind of expensive. How many miles and why you selling it.

I'd like to see somebody from the U.S. do an Sr20 swap into a Civic............
Why discourage someone for wanting to do something different? Maybe he has more money than God. The Sr20 did come in front and rear wheel drive. I say if you got the cash then fuggin do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excuse me, but there ARE frontwheel drive versions of the almighty SR20DE-T, and they are bad-***. They come in Pulsars overseas, and some are AWD models that the USDM Nissan 200SX and Sentra SE-R FF trannies bolt right up to. So you would NOT have to convert your FF to RWD like said earlier...

I agree it's a far-fetched swap, but if you're going to flame the guy then please flame with totally correct info

The swap would require a lot of fabrcation it *seems* and it would NOT be a really cheap alternative to a good VTEC swap.

Sorry, but he's right - a stock SR20DE-T can handle LOTS more boost than a Honda engine - even those built for turbo duty.

Any time you enter human error into the equation, like rebuilding a Honda motor for turbo, you are taking more chances with the reliabilty.

A stock SR20DE-T would be great for boost in theory, but as I stated before the fab might make the price VERY expensive.

And SR20DE-T swaps only cost around $1,800 for motor with all the turbo **** and ECU

Sure t can be done as previously stated but for the money it isn't worth it.
if you are looking for an original swap that would outpower the sr20det though try this one with a comptech blower on it. They just got it running so they haven't run it yet but it is going to be fast.

one more thing if you think that 1800 is gona get you a complete sr20det, youd better thinka gain because your almost always going to be missing somehting. since i know your not gona do this but if you were, buy a front clip other wise be prepared for downtime on the motor as it will almost always be missing somehting.
