So my JDM ITR came in today. Acouple quesitons.
I bought a 98+ JDM ITR motor from HMO and it showed up today. This is my first experience with any JDM motor, and I have a few questions. I've done all the searches and I can't come up with any 98+ JDM ITR specifics like I am looking for.
How can I be sure this is a 98+ ITR motor? It is stamped "B18C" and has the right intake manifold style, but what else should I check?
What ECU was stock in the 98+ JDM ITR?
How can I be sure this is the tranny I paid for? It is not stamped anywhere, and does not have LSD printed on it. It has a sticker with S80 in the number and I can look all the way through the differencial. The tranny does have a ton of casting marks on it-more than on any other motor I have seen.
And the one that is kind of really bugging me (more than the others)-Why is the vin tag gone from the tranny and why is there no vin on the head? Is this normal from a JDM motor? Is this normal for a motor bought from HMO?
Thanks

I am afraid your motor is stolen. You must send it to me right away! I will ensure it's taken care of by the proper authorities.

you have the right tranny, and you have LSD. dont know how to tell if you have the JDM final drive though without taking it apart.
Your ECU should say P73 on it.
There is no VIN number on any JDM trannies and there are no VIN numbers on heads in any country. The block has a VIN number on it...on the front, on the bottom edge, below the dipstick tube. But I dont think JDM motors have VIN's on them.

Tonyxcom-Thanks. The holes for the fasteners that hold the vin tags are on the tranny and block, but no vin tags. I am used to seeing US motors, so when this thing did not have the tag it freaked me out.
I paid $5300 for the swap. It seems to be in real nice shape, but there are a few little things that I see I will need to order from Honda. Once I get the time to put the motor in the car, I will post up how my overall opinions about HMO and how the whole ordering, getting the motor, and how it runs went.
In the meantime, maybe someone can tell me how to be sure it has the JDM FD without cracking the tranny case?

If it is going in a Civic you will need US integra axles, or SI axles, the 98+ JDM type R axles are bigger. The 96-97 JDM Type R axles would fit also.

I asked what axle nuts will fit the JDM ITR axles. I am going to use the JDM ITR axles with my swap since I have everything needed to use them sitting there.
Anyone?

Steve should have sent you CTR Axles, because the JDM ITR Axles will not fit.
You will have to convert to a redrilled Prelude Hub, or JDM ITR 5-Luggie.
Better off just getting the right axles.

I have like 20 used axle nuts from Civics and Integras, and nothing will fit the JDM ITR axles, excpet this one nut which I think is from a Prelude maybe(maybe V6 Accord)? I am trying to find out so I can get some new axle nuts in here for when the car goes back together.

The manufacture date of the head is printed on the front side in those circle looking things. Or at least thats what I've been tought.

But this theory holds true in most cases
