heres the deal, put the LSvtec in the car and started it up, it blew huge amounts of smopke out the exhaust and ran a little rough, as well as having a massive head gasket leak. did a compression test that came up as follows: #1 170, #2 180, #3 170, #4 0. Ripped the head off to find a bunch of bent valves one of which was sticking open. so the ls head went back on (the rockers are all out of order) the sam gasket was coppersprayed and reused and doesn't seem to be leaking this time, but it still smokes like it did before. compression test said 240psi across all cylinders. so WTF

what color is the smoke?

and do a leakdown test, that will tell you where the problem is.

thanks so much, found out what it was, headgasket, once i got a chance to look at it. it spit about a quart of oil out the exhaust during a trip half way down the block.
