Default S2000 Cluster Swap Wiring Guide

Please use the other S2000 cluster thread for technical info, this one is just a wiring guide I made up. See other thread here.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=762288

Ok here it is. All EG EF EK DC2 gauge swaps.. Ugh, I just spent two hours doing this, hope it's appreciated.

I guess hook up all the power circuits to an ignition power source. Doesn't seem to have a wire for any memory circuit.

AP2 Clusters have a clock, and probably totally different wiring. This is for the 2000-2003 S2k Gauge Clusters

Holding down the SEL button will switch between KM/H and MPH
Pressing the + and - buttons will change the brightness of the cluster.

Connector A ----------------------------------------------- EG harness

EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG EG

1 BLU/RED (Seat belt reminder) --------------------------- BLU/WHT (B10 Seatbelt Light)

4 PNK (SRS) CONNECT TO +12V power (A10 IGNTION POWER) TO TURN OFF LIGHT (or correct wire if you have it)

6 YEL (Fuse 5) ------ONLY IN CANADA-ONLY IN CANADA-------- BLK/YEL (A10 IGNITION Power)

7 GRN/RED (Left turn signal (+)) ------------------------- GRN/BLU (A4 Left Turn) WORKS

8 GRN/YEL (Right turn signal (+))------------------------- GRN/BLU (A3 RightTurn) WORKS

9 RED/WHT (High beam (+)) -------------------------------- RED/GRN (B1 Highbeam) WORKS

If positive trigger high beam Connect A10 to ground, A9 to switch. If trigger to ground, Connect A9 to Power and A10 to switch. Probably situation 1.

2 RED/YEL (Fuse 45) -------------------------------------- BLK/YEL (A10 Power)

OK, B2 doesn't seem to do ANYTHING. I guess hook it up, I'll look for more details tomorrow.

B3 is the switch between bright and dim. I would connect it to (red/black A11 Gauge Lights)

3 RED/BLK (Circuit 11 – dash and console lights (+)) ----- +12 dims the cluster, so A11 or A12, someone test and I'll edit this.

Have you read it? On the VSS wire it says connect to VSS converter. On the ECT wire, it says connect to ECT converter. Check the other thread for details of that.
RPM always worked, btw.

OK, I looked at all the parts blowups online,
Looks like all K SERIES POWERED

2004+ RSX manual trans 5 and 6 speed
2004+ TSX manual
2004+ Accord Manual
2006+ Civic Manual
None of the CRVs
2003 + Element 5spd AWD MT
2003+ Element Manual (interesting!) How's the gearing in a 2wd element??
Have the new style Hall Effect VSS sensor. Again, it'll run the s2000 cluster, but it won't run your computer..

UNLESS!!! Who wants to try it, I'm pretty sure this will work. But it's gonna take someone with a new style tranny, swapped into an older car, with both an s2000 cluster and another cluster. This really isn't that hard.

The output on plug C1 should be a stepped down VSS signal. If you have a new trans you can output the VSS signal ONLY to the cluster, then connect the output of the cluster to your ECU !!!!
If someone is going to do this, please put another cluster inline somewhere, with just power/ground/ and the VSS signal hooked up. You want to make sure that it is accurate.. This is the wire that connects to the cruise control/EPS/convertible top on the s2k.

Damn good thought.

I could be wrong, but i thought for sure the S2000 vss sends the signal to the s2k ecu which converts it into a signal to send to the speedo lcd on the cluster. So to use one of these newer vss's you'd need the ecu for the output to the cluster? That's why tapping into a digital aftermarket speedo's signal would give correct output for the display, supposedly, because it has a converter built in like the ecu.
or not, more than likely i'm retarded.

I also saw in the wiring diagram that the s2k cluster does have a constant power wire which i wired into my hazard switch, this might be for storing the digital trip meters or something, or may not be needed, but i know the schematics show it as constant. B5 WHT/RED and the immobilizer light D16 WHT/RED which i don't need.

Which wiring diagram are you looking at? I'm working on the AP1 diagram, 2000-2003. It doesn't need a constant power source, I checked. All odometer memory is stored through a power off.
The VSS signal is split off after the sensor, one goes to the ecu and one goes to the cluster. The ECU doesn't change the signal to the cluster. The cluster however, can change the signal of your VSS, it'll take the high pulse output of the vss and produce a standard honda VSS signal. In the s2000 it uses this for cruise control, power steering and convertible top control. The output from the cluster is pin C1.
I'm pretty sure about my wiring diagram, I spent a lot of time testing things.

It doesn't need or have a constant? I've got the schematics from the same cluster your talking about, which is the same i have installed in my car and those pinouts and wires i mentioned above are the ones that run straight to constant power, so that's how i wired them. I believe you about the odometer being stored separately, i have no clue, but i know my schematic shows constant power to B5 and D16. Check it out and let me know if you have those wires listed on your or not and what you think they are for.

As for the VSS, i see where it splits now, So do you think tapping into an aftermarket digital speedometer to get a signal will work? I've got the electrical vss already to get the nordskog guage a signal.

also, the blu/wht wire i see coming from the vss to the cluster and ecm, but what is the yel/blu wire for? it comes from the ecm to the vss.

Both of those wires are connected to fuse #25 in the s2k fusebox, labelled as HOT IN ON OR START... That means ignition key in on, or start. That's what keeps the cluster running when the car goes into start.
I don't know about your digital speedometer. Not everything digital uses the same signal. You could possibly break something if you don't know what you are doing. Why not wait for the proper solution?
Yel/blu is a constant signal voltage for the sensor. You don't need to worry about that one.

Do you know when the solution will be available? I assume you are talking about Marks right? I just don't see an end in sight with that guy. His conversion has been working for well over 6 months and still no word on when to get it. I have no choice but to wait if nothing else works, do you know anyone else trying to get this going? I saw the diagram with the s2k vss and how it's magnetized, not real sure how that could be made to work though.
thanks for the help

i disconnected both those wires and saw no difference in the cluster's operation. I'll email you the diagram that i have so you can see if mine's different than yours.

No, I'm not talking about marks. I'll let everyone know as soon as it works in MY car with MY cluster. I got tired of waiting as well

That will be great BigCaliDave- Keep us updated on your progress dude? How come its taking the Mark in UK so long when he posted in the other topic he cracked it over a year ago?
I've had my cluster for a long time, and understand the complexities of this project. But I would like to see it done and released within my lifetime

Nope. I'm just supplying a simple box that makes the S2k cluster speedometer work properly. It's only 4 wires. I have a wiring guide for your car on my site. If you can't do it, find a friend that can. I will provide as much support as humanly possible.
