Default is this right?

alright two of my friends raced each other. One car is a del sol 93 with a b16, intake, muffler, and a chiped ecu with no redline. The other car is a 93 hatchback dx w/ a jdm gsr motor. They both ran against each other. The del sol got a lead against the hatch in first n second. At 3rd gear the hatch starts pulling a bit. Is this right? Cause i thought the hatch would kill the delsol like nothing.

I would also expect the hatch to pull early on the delslow. It really depends alot on the drivers though.

the way i have always heard it (and seen it a few times) the b16 will get you off the line but the b18 will get you in the long run.

look at the drivers, much is to be said about human error. ANyways the b16a revs a little quicker, but the gsr is more torquey, and depending on the tranny used, pulls harder in third

how do you figure?
the b16 has less torque
the hatch should walk all over it.

condistion of the motor's and your hommie in the del sol probably started rev past were he makes power its pointless to have no rev limiter with stock valve train. good way to blow your motor. hommie in the GSR might have a clutch problem or even just a traction problem

the guy with the hatch i know is a decent driver. before his swap he only had a stock dx motor and no air filter. he beat my cousins stock 99 ex vtec by a few cars. and he beat my other friends stock 92 ls integra. could it be his motor is just a lemon? im debating right now on what motor i should get. because when i saw this it kinda discourage me into geting the gsr motor. what do you guys think. a b16a or a b18c. i know alot will say the gsr, but seeing what happen. it beating the delsol in 3rd but loosing in 1& 2 kinda makes me think.
