removed charcoal canister. is this ok now? [pix]
ok guys... what do u think here?
ok.. so i removed the charcoal canister.. only have 1 issue, and dont know if i fixed this correctly or not....
this long pipe here goes all the way back to the gas tank i suppose.. after removing the canister and everything else associated with it.. this was the only thing left open, so i plugged it up as you can see in the next pic.
even though it looks like there is a hole in the center of my plug, it is sealed. lol... i dont know what it was.. but i just found it laying in my shop.. and it worked. ahhahah
my question is... this does need to be plugged up right? since i removed all the other stuff.. or does it need to be able to ventilate or something???? i figured i would just plug it cuz it may or may not have something to do with fuel pressure... any input is welcome.

It has to be vented. What the charcoal canister does is traps the fuel vapors. Then it cycles the vapors back into the engine. Car makers do this so it is a sealed system (emissions).
If you plug it, the vapors will build up and you will have a serious fire hazard on your hands.

Hmm......... now going along this line of thinking, wouldnt excess fuel vapors in the engine bay be bad? Lots of heat and such in there, could that potentially be a fire hazard as well?

****.. i hope not.. lol... if so, on me.. ahhahahha.. i dunno.. i gess i could attach another hose to it and run it up towards the back top of the engine bay and let it vent out the rear of the hood... input?
even though the canister is under everything.. i like the look alot better with out it there.

Yes, but the chance is less if the vapers are not pressurzed. I have ran cars without them with no problems, but with everything, they is always a chance.

If you mean from the flames that will throw your car in the air 20", yes.
I kid, I kid. There is a chance, but it is less then you think. I dunno why you want to remove it in the first place. Chrome it out, fool!

I have been contemplating on removing the canister and venting the system or leaving it as is. Still not sure what I want to do at this point. The bay will look so much cleaner w/o it, but don't want a fire or breathing gas fumes.....
Are you guys still running w/o the canister?
Oh, back from the dead

Re: (Hybrid93Hatch)
You don't have to remove it!, just tuck it somewhere. Maybe put it lower or bolt it under neath your dash. Unless you like smelling gas all day!! lol
