Qustion about rust....CRX b16a
Hello, im sure like everyone else, i have rust all over my inner trunk area. I sanded it all down and got rid of as much rust as i could. My question is, after i get all the rust off, there is little black dots in the area where the rust was. Do i also need to sand these "black dots" out or can i cover them in about TEN COATS OF FREAKIN PRIMER AND PAINT. Im realy getting freakin tired of fixing this metal cancer. let me know, thx.

well... u should sand it down until its all shiny. u dont want any color in there at all.. if u have a hard time reaching the points. lay some sand paper down on the metal flat.. and dig into it with a screw driver or something.. something sharper than ur finger that can sand out those holes... then go ahead and primer/paint.

yeah, if u leave any rust, and just cover it up with primer and paint, it will slow it down, but the rust will still be there and it will slowly spread. just make sure u get it all out, then cover it properly and u will be good to go.

Yeah, thats one of the tools im using. I started standing today with it and the rust is DEEP. after i get it out should i use some kind of filler or something. The metal is going to be kinda thin after im done

Well i was thinking of another option. I kinda want it done by a shop. But the people who did my paint job is waaaay to expensive. Since it is in the trunk area and i dont care about looks, is a cheap place like maaco worth a shot? I have tried this myself before and i havent had much luck

ok.. with maaaco.. they painted one of our cars for $300. it fukin sux. all the clear is gone off the top....
but i've heard of people paying them alot, and actually having good jobs... i gess u get what u pay for .... especially in auto body. if its just the inside. and u dont care about it.. just sand it down best u can. and use some spray can primer and spray can paint. that will work fine.

Ok guys thx for all your help. I went and bought two different kinds of rust removers and i need to know which one to use(or both) I have klean-strip rust CONVERTER, it says that it turns rust to a hard sandable primer. or i have klean-strip rust remover, says its a jellied rust remover which cuts throught and dessolves rust. all i have left are the black pits, will this stuff fix that so i dont have to sand the metal really thin?
should i use the remover then the converter just to make sure? or just the converter or the remover and then a rustoliem primer... let me know what ya think.
p.s. i have it sanded down tonight to bare metal(sorry no pics) but i didnt sand all the way through the black pits, im hopeing this converter/primer will take care of that.
I need some advice ASAP so i can fix it in the morning( live in florida really humid, rusts easy.

i dunno.. i've never heard of that rust converter.. i think i would go with that rust remover if u are for sure going to use one..
i know there is some "anti-rust paint" i've used it on various small parts, holds up very well so far...
like i said, if the rust is all gone and u cant see anymore... just go ahead and prime then paint. u'll be fine.
