Default question about flywheel.

I just received my ist gen b16 longblock yesterday, in place of where the flywheel mounts, there is a sliver disc about the same size as the flywheel, but has no teeth to grap the starter and has holes all over it. It looks like a piece of swiss cheese. what the hell is that?

The motor you received is from an automatic car. To be perfectly honest with you I forgot the name of the part you are mentioning. I am sure somebody on this board knows the name of it.

I have heard rumors (not sure if it is fact) that the automatic B16s have less aggresive camshafts. Can anybody confirm this?

It's called a flexplate. The torque converter bolts to it.

And yes, auto B16 cams are very weak. You'll want to upgrade as soon as you hit VTEC.

everyone says ITR or CTR cams are the way to go..but if strapped for cash *like me* GSR cams are said to be a decent upgrade as well.

No first hand experience, BUT have had friends that said it's a very noticable difference. Especially above 6500rpm.

As Kenji mentioned, yes, you can.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do NOT forget to change the bolts that attach the flywheel to the crank, as the AUTO uses a shorter bolt. You'll need to get the longer bolts ment for the manual transmission.

THIS IS IMPORTANT
