Had them a long time ago in a SOHC Civic. Messed up my alternator power (votage was lower), were a pain to install (cuz you need air tools), and didn't free up any noticeable power.

less rotational mass is good.
I dont run anything more than OEM cd player though , with more electrical load on the alt it may be a bad thing.

just giving my experience, I had a underdrive pully on my civic and I didnt feel a thing. If I took it to the dyno I might have seen a few hp increase, but thats not worth all the trouble IMO. I did notice a little difference in response though.

Re: Pulley's really worth it? (genop)
If this means anything I have a VW and I put a lightened crank pully on. I can't feel a difference, but I dynoed with out it and with it. It gave me an average of 3 horses. So I dont know if it is worth it. I got mine cheap and it wasnt that hard to put on.

Well I already have a lightened flywheel, so I think that will do. Thanks for the info, doesnt seem like its worth the hassle for only a few ponies.

A solid light-weight underdrive crank pulley is a bad idea. The OEM crank pulley has a damper for a reason, to absorb the harmonics and avoid destroying your engine. It might not happen right off, but rest assured the non-damped pulses will eventually ruin your engine in the long run. I've heard when they tried this back in the 60's on drag cars, for some new mandatory rule more than a few solid pulleys shot off the end of the crank and through the hood.

its rotational mass , its not the same as just pulling 6lbs out of the car , bud.

no, i'm sorry it's not even close to being the same. If the pulley weight was added to the outer part of the crank, now we're talking apples to apples...
I have the CTR N1 pulley because my stocker got knicked pretty bad, and I didn't want there to be any problems. I can't speak of the balancing issue just because people have run them for more than 60k+ and not had any engine issues, but this can't be overlooked, there HAS to be an problem with that, as small as it may be.
imo, put the money towards something more upfront on deliverables.
