I'm not too sure where to type this... any help will be appreciated! (and trust me when i say, 'I've searched.'
A few months ago i bought a "Mugen" chip from an unmentionable source. installed on a p28 ecu. i'm planning on a ls/vtec swap so i'll "reprogram" my ecu. anyway, it basically consisted of 2 jumpers, 2 resisters, (1) capacitor, an ic socket and 20 pin chip. didn't do much except change rev limit and vtec but that's off topic... my question is, is it necessary to send off my ecu to have it reprogrammed or will the process consist of what i've installed already? I know that the 20 pin chip will need to be replaced but what else if anything?
In essence: what takes place when i send my ecu off to be reprogrammed? Will someone basically add a better external ROM chip?
