Default Problems with my D16Y8....please help.

I purchased this motor for 30 bucks. It had some slight rod knock, so I thought hell, I can pop it open and replace all the bearings. Well, I got it taken apart yesterday, but came to find that Cylinder #4 rod bearing was completely gone. The crank journal isn't 100% but doesnt look like it should need to be refurbished.

But as for the cylinder walls, they dont look worn at all. The motor has almost 65K on the ticker. The former Honda Technician, and current Kia Platinum Technician told me I should have the cylinders punched out .10 over just as a precaution. But I cannot afford all that ****.

Should I punch it out .10 over, and run some cheaper aftermarket pistons like SRPs or leave it stock and reuse the pistons and rods, but replace all the bearings?

Thanks.

get new piston rings, or do a DIY cylinder hone on the walls...worked many times for me.

Pull the crank and give it to a shop that will inspect it and make sure it's not damaged, so that you don't go through the trouble getting new bearings and when you install it, it might knock or damage other components.

got pics of the journals? and rod bearing caps?

I'd just get in inspected and do a slight bottom end build. What do you have to lose on a $30 motor? Really, think about it. lol

And how do you do a DYI cylinder hone? PM me about it please?
