problem when starting the car
When I start the car after parking it overnite, it idles really high around 2000rpm for about 5 minutes. I understand it needs to warm up, but on a day like 70 degree, isn't that a bit too high.
FYI, I have a b18b in EG6... I am suspecting if something is not done rite during the swap. The car has about 120k and the engine has about 100k if this information helps..
Thanks

well........I cant give tell you exactly whats wrong (id have to look at it) but it seems that this a sensor, wiring, or vacume line problem. Most likely its your Idle Control sensor, the computer looks to this sensor to determine how much fuel to add to maintain a normal (around 750 ) rpm. When mechanics do a Power Balance test to determine if a car is running on all cylinders they cancel the spark on 1 cylinder at a time and then see if that effects the idle (if the cylinder isnt contributing the idle stays the same). To prevent the computer from interfering with this test they DISCONNECT THE IDLE SENSOR. One thing ive noticed when turning on a car with the sensor disconnected is that the RPMs shoot up to around 2300, and stay there for about half a minute before falling down to normal. This sounds like the problem your having. I cant be certain that thats the problem but I do know that oftentimes when motors are shipped they show up with broken sensors.
Maybe thats what happened. Hope you can fix it.
