Pay the 60 bucks and have it privately inspected. Dont you have any one you know who owns a shop? NJ Inspection doesnt open the hood and look inside, only run the emissions testing.

I have 3 cars, all 3 never had their hoods opened. I guess if there is no reason to suspect something then they wont. I went to the Lakewood,NJ facility and the Manahawkin, NJ facility and never once did I see anyones hood get opened.

i took both my civic and integra to Seacacus inspection center and they didn't open the hood. I had a CAI in the integra and it passed.

that b.s. jdm engines can be SMOG LEGAL as long as you have the same engine year as the car and all of the smog equipment must be the same equalivent from a usdm. I know quite a few people here from ca that do have jdm engines and it is bar legal so don't give bullshit info if you don't know wtf you are talking about.

My 95 EX with 96 B18b doesn't pass the new Parson's test. Damn NOx emissions. If they still just tested for HC and CO i'd be fine.
I just ended up registering my car as a collectors vehicle. I'm emissions exempt now.
BTW: I've never had them pop my hood...
