Default OBD1 4th gen prelude Canadian G22

Hello everyone !

I just acquired a 4th gen f22a1 , the engine is in good shape , the body is in good shape and the interior is mint ! 1000$ ... downside 361k kms...
Nonetheless I'm rebuilding the whole thing !

I have been reading up a lot of your threads about g22 setups , but most of them date back 2005-2008 .. I want to make one !
I've got the budget , the mechanical skills and a few write ups to follow

I will be posting pics of my progress this will be epic !
And YES this will be a boost setup and NO it will not be a DD .

Ok so for starters this is the car , a little crooked at the front end .. gotta attend that before anything... :

and what a surprise the dumb*ss who installed that bumper removed all internal supports ... no wonder it was crooked .. so I went a little creative and made my own bumper support .. also took the opportunity to add an intercooler mount bracket to it. I thought it would be nice to leave a little spring into it so the bumper wouldnt be destroyed at the first little bender ...this was at the first stage of fabrication ... I added a few brackets and painted red primer looks sharp ill add more pics

and with the bumper on : all straightened up !

Looks like you have the ideas and the fab skills, I see this going well!

Honestly I buy most of my parts in the US and ship them up from my parents house in Colorado, or wait until I take trips down there.

Where exactly are you located?

jdmsource dot ca, great guy local in Calgary - always has good engines. He's getting a container in pretty quick (next week or 2) I'm hoping to get suspension, he asked in the last order that they put in some bb1/bb2 stuffs .. fingers crossed ..

My 93 sr has an F22B i discovered the other day (assumed h23 when I bought it) and parts car is a 96 SRV ... if i can't get the parts car started (for resale) I'll be watching this thread closely and follow in your steps.

Well I found my h22 head last night ! and all the other hardware I need for the motor ! a guy on Craigslist has a knocking h22a4 for 200$ hes taking everything i need apart and chucking the bad block .. ! and from what i have read from multiple sources its not much , ill post a list soon when i get home .

hes even going to deliver it from Vancouver for me , lucky me he's coming to Kelowna on Friday for a hockey tournament I'm going to take this bay apart first thing on Wednesday

Going to send the block for a 86mm bore also next week and get some Wiseco forged pistons. that should do the trick to prevent hot spots on the top of that block might even see if i can get it to 87mm, not sure the f22 can go that far ... Might send that head out for a port and polish and I'll get some valves and springs... big $$$ week !! lmao

Next issue will be trying to align those oil drains and water ports with the head .. ...which is not very bad if left alone apparently. Will also need to plug a couple oil drains

does this guy in Calgary keeps turbo hardware on shelves ?

well the engine is out , mostly torn apart . Only problem , stupid head studs don't want to come out ... i almost burned out my impact and they didnt even budge ..

and here is my complete h22a4 head with all necessary parts from the h22 itself to make the hybrid !

And theres the empty bay ready for a major tear out of whatever i dont wanna keep .. mostly everything ...

Why does that motor sound like it's got a horrible rod knock?

Theres a big exhaust leak right under the engine and the sound reflected bad in my garage, also the ecu wasnt programmed so it was idling at around 400-500 rpm .. needs some work still but I got it to start which was my biggest concern after doing all that wiring in there. Im suspecting the timing to be off by a few degrees also but my tuner will tell me if im good for that in a few days. Also , pistons are fitted a little looser for boost purpose sovyou might hear some piston slap as its cold

Nice work man! I was wondering if you had gotten this rig on the road before winter hit, had no idea you were going to go so custom with it!

gotta be honest, not sure what any of the stuff in the back seat is..

What type of ECU is that ? are you piggy backed or is it a replacement?

I think I owe Honda-Tech a good update on my project. All my issues are resolved , engine in machine shop for some upgrades. and here comes the pictures :

New turbo , engine at machine shop already .. going to get me closer to 400whp and 360 ft/pounds . heres some pictures of almost complete.

Relocated ECU to rear firewall, installed fusebox and ground block.

New wheels , installed a battery switch , new antenna , raked the *** end with stiffer springs .

Installed LED headlights instead and cut out my mesh.

While I am waiting for my engine , I mounted the fuel tank properly, painted the trunk and cleaned up wiring .

Did the same with engine bay.

All Im missing now is the fresh build for next weekend !
