Default obd1 or 2??

i got a 98 ek and i decided to go with the h22 swap. even though my car is obd2, i heard that it will run better with a obd1, is this true? if so why? do i just need to get a jumper, whats a good one to get and where. thanks
p.s. the guy at the shop where i get my work done says its gonna be more expensive for my swap than and eg because something with the slave cylinder being hydraulic????????????

OBDII is more power constricting because of the different regulations it carries....think evap system amongst other things.
