Default O2 Trouble

So i bought this swapped civic. It's a 92 dx four door with a b16a3 and harness. The o2 light was on and I looked at the car and it had a universal one with self wiring between the o2 plug and sensor itself, so I figured that was the problem. I went to the parts store and told them I wanted the denso one from a 95 del sol vtec. He ended up giving me the wrong part number and I didn't notice this till it was open and installed(and nonreturnable). The part # I got is the 2344099. the one that is listed for the car and through denso is 2344011. I have researched this topic and some people say it should work and others say it won't and should use the 2344011. This sensor did plug in just fine but I still have the code. I am not saying this couldn't possible be a wiring issue but does anyone know if this sensor should work? I mean hondas are pretty generic o2 wise and this # I have is used pretty much across the board. Also this car has a Hytech knock off and the o2 bung is right before it goes to 1 pipe, so its on a secondary runner. Could the location be the issue?
