Default no heat

i have a civic with a b18b1 i have no heat in my car i changed the thermo. and flushed the radiator and heater core i was told to feel the two hoses that lead to the heater core at the fire wall and they are both cold they said it means it is the water pump that is bad is this true? how hard is it to fix this? any other ideas

I had a similar problem with my k24 swap. The problem was a cable was kinked.
might be something to look at.
