newest edition to the hybrid world...
almost finished my first hybrid swap.
83 Prelude EX with a 91 Integra B16A engine = lots of work!
just need to pass smog, noise and roadworthy tests and she will be legal.
here are some pics :D

Awesome man. That must have been a pretty difficult swap. How long did it take you?? As for quarter mile times I have no clue because I have never seen your car before with a b16.

Re: newest edition to the hybrid world... (91civic)
how does 8 weeks without my car sound?
yep, heaps difficult swap, lots of trial and error stuff, but the research paid off and no costly mistakes were made.
it was just a really long process of trying to get stuff to fit, and attaching it properly (don't ever cut corners - its expensive!)
ive never seen my car with a B16 before either - but i like the way it looks now )
thanks,

Re: newest edition to the hybrid world... (SoLoMaNder)
yep, first ive heard of too!
you reckon 14's?
sweet! its fully stock except for a lightened flywheel (14lbs), a heavy clutch and K&N air filter and a 2 1/4in exhaust.
still has plenty of fine tuning to go though, gotta get some 98 octane and bump up the timing...
thanks for the props boys

Holy **** that's the coolest man. I have to show the old-school techs here at my shop.
What kinds of problems did you encounter? How did you mount it in there? Please explain the process - I'm VERY interested.

And HOW much does that car weigh? That should help us out in guessing 1/4 mile times...
And again, simply awesome work man. What made you do that particular set-up?
Just curious. Tell us your story man.

Re: newest edition to the hybrid world... (B18C5-EH2)
well, from factory it weighs 955kg (2105lbs) with air con/ALB/iron block.
ive removed these so i think i may have saved 40kg?
i think about as much an EG or EF weighs?
so i guess with driver will be about 2100lbs - im a little guy
the reason i bought the car is because it was such a beautiful blue. it had been thrashed a bit with 278'000km on the clock.
i found the american import scene on the internet and was inspired by the world of amazing Hybrid Honda's out there! i just HAD to make my car a hybrid - well it needed more power anyways
in hindsight i should have gone B18C but i couldnt find one in australia for less than $6000AUD so i went with the B16A front clip for $2000AUD
teh engine mounts were the hardest, i had to MIG weld the LHS mount off the integra onto the prelude and bolt on hte rear mount and replace the 83 prelude front crossmember with the 91 integra crossmemeber - i was SOOOO lucky that this fitted perfectly!
but yeah, time and paitence and some serious lateral thinking was involved,
thanks guys, ill keep you all posted.
