Default New to the site... with a question!

Hello hybrid owners! My name's Susan and I was wondering if I could get your advice on something.

I have a four year old daughter, and - breaking news! - I have just found out that my second is on the way. Hooray! But now that Bill and I have the news, we're starting to think that it's time to get a new car. That's where I hope you can help me.

Bill and I (well, I, but I'll let Bill know ) are thinking that we might get either a new Civic hybrid or an Odyssey. They seem so reliable! But we're not sure which, and that's where you all come in.

Does anybody here have any advice for Bill and I as far as your experiences owning Civics (and maybe even Odesseys)? The Civic hybrid has such good gas mileage but I don't know how it is as a family vehicle. I get the sense that most people on this forum (unlike me!) really know what they're talking about, so hopefully you can help me out.

Thanks so much everybody!!!

SuzieQ

if your family will be doing alot of driving (50-70miles) a day then the civic hybrid will be a good choice because of the good MPG they get..if your family doesnt drive alot then a odyssey is nice...i would suggest either a Pilot or Odyssey for a family car...hybrid is more of traveling to and from work if you work out of town

I can't speak from experience but I would think that with the full house you'll be having soon that you'll need a roomy car. Hence I would think the Odessey would probably be best between those 2 choices. Honestly, the better gas mileage that hybrids get and subsequently the "savings" would take about 10 years to offset the extra cost of the car itself. Hybrids are kind of a scam put on by car companies to make the general public think they're doing something about the world's oil situation, but thats a whole different story, lol. Either way a Honda is great choice because of their reliability.
