Default Need help with my LS/VTEC please!

I did a search but could'nt find the anything.

Here's what I have:

94' LS block,crank,flywheel

B16a complete motor

I'm going to build the LS block with the B16a head. I need to know what to use for rod's and slugs. I thought I remember reading somewhere that b16a rod's and pistons yield good compression(or was it just the pistons?) in a b18 block. I'm on a limited budget going all motor.

Can I use the b16 rods or should I get something else, and what about pistons?type R pistons?

I need some input here.

Thanks in advance

heh thats not good for all motor. All motor espically with an LS on a low budget is not good.

What I meant was I'm not gonna drop 1000+ bux for a set of cam's. Probably go for some type r's w/ springs & retainers.

I have the hookups for a free port and polish and valve job, all my head work.

I need to know what rods and pistons to use.

hmm
JDM ITR pistons net most compression, as for rods im not too sure which ones to use.

Take your rods and get them shot peened and polished, for extra strength. You have to use the ls rods in a ls/vtec. Now with the pistons try these, 1st gen b16=11.2:1 cr, us itr=11:1, jdm ctr/itr= way more. I got my first gen b16 for 60 buck shipped. They're in good shape too! Just look on thepartstrader.com

i don't think you understand ls/vtec.a ls has longer rods than a b18c5.get the ls rods shot-peined or endyn/eagle rods.with type r rods you would get lower compression.

Shot peening and polishing the rods is a waste of time this will do nothing for your build, I am using B18b stock rods and USDM ITR pistons with a B16 head that is milled 40 thousands. If you want to rev the **** out of your LSvtec buy some crower rods, if not stock B18b rods are good to about 9200 if the rest of the motor is built properly.
