MISSION... d15z1... EG Sedan... super MPG....
.... I did so search but not too many anwers.
This swap may sound stupid to most but, performace & horsepower is not all that Honda is know for. In stead of getting a 2001-2004 Civic DX which gets 38mpg hwy, I'm trying to accomplish this with the d15z1.
I just got a 1994 civic LX sedan with blown motor. I also have a friend to has a good VX-d15z1 complete swap for free.
I'm only doing this to accomplish the great MPG & reliable car
Q:
1) should i keep the VX tranny or LX tranny with the D15z1 motor? I believe with the LX tranny acceleration will be better in the city but will there be a big difference in terms of overall MPG?
2) Will I run into any wiring issues... since VX has vtec-e...
3) are the O2 sensors the same & same location?
4) should I use the LX harnes or the VX harness?
I've always been a EF guy since day one 7yrs now... but I apperciate EG's more for less rust, power options & more comfortable ride.. haha
TIA

so how in anyway did was that comment helpful in this thread?
honda's are know for great power.... not earth shattering power but impressive per displacement and innovative technology.

Man, I know you made the cute little smiley face but man I really hate stupid comments like that. Especially from other Honda owners.
Yeah, Honda isn't known for performance because people waste time and money swapping in B16's and run high 14's... wow!

I agree
With my D15B7 [HB DX] I think is the same motor and transmission as the LX... I can't remember the exact figure but I got well over 30mpg and ran a 16.7.
In my opinion, I would rather have a little bit of acceleration just in case and scrafice 2-3mpg and go with the LX tranny. But then again, my H22 gets 30 mpg.

The longer the transmission gears the better
2) Will I run into any wiring issues... since VX has vtec-e...
you will need to wire up vtec, and egr if the stock motor didn't come with it.
3) are the O2 sensors the same & same location?
No. The VX has a 5 wire o2 (think wideband) and is directly off the exhaust manifold/cat area
4) should I use the LX harnes or the VX harness?
It would be easier just to use the vx harness
